Thinking of Spring Mother of the Bride Dresses for 2011

To my readers new and old,

I have been "out of the loop" with blogging and sharing stories about the fashion world particularly in mother of the bride dresses and such. It was such a busy year for us despite the economic recession. I believe that there are lots of women out there who have a not-so-great time looking for their special dress. They come to my webstore www.audreysmotherofthebride.com for low prices and extensive selections. And they find them. We thank you, our customers, for making 2010 a great year for us.

Christmas is in 9 days and not one mother is worrying about her dress at this time. But once the "fa-la-la-la-la-ing" is over and done with, the bride's wedding looms very, very near. The designers and manufacturers will then introduce their new styles for Spring 2011. The new designs now are trendier and more "hip" for the mother of the bride. However, not all mothers want to wear strapless bustier top dresses with bolero jackets.

Our store is different and we are different. We listen to what the real mothers want. The mothers who are not a size 4 or 6 and who have fitting issues with their dresses. Mothers want to look tastefully elegant without sacrificing their integrity.

We provide brands now that will customize the style for you without changing the original pattern too much, of course. These custom mother of the bride dresses are offered from sizes 2 to 38. Which physical store out there can do this for you, I wonder?

Best of all, prices are very reasonable and waiting time is not too long--about four weeks. Enjoy your holidays, your family and friends, and the food, fun, and laughter that goes with it. Looking forward to seeing you all visit our store come 2011! Peace, and God Bless!

For the Mother of the Bride.....

Here is a really funny story...I do not know how true this is but a friend of mine sent this to me. Enjoy!

Only a woman would understand.....

Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parent's nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the PERFECT mother of the bride dress to wear and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father's new young wife to exchange it, but she
refused. "Ansolutley not. I look like a million bucks in this dress,
and I'm wearing it," she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, "Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day."

A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother,
"Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it."

Her mother just smiled and replied, "Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding."

NOW I ASK YOU - IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHO WOULDN'T ENJOY THIS STORY?

Customizable Mother of the Bride Gowns

Once the year 2010 comes around, the mother of the bride will be seeking a mother of the bride dress to wear to her daughter's wedding. Likewise, for the mother of the groom. Mother of the bride gown sales usually starts out strong during mid-January onwards.

The typical mother of the bride sometimes despair in finding a dress to wear because the local shops and department stores do not stock what they exactly need in terms of color, style, and sometimes functionality.

The local bridal boutiques do carry stock of the dresses but due to the economic recession, have been cutting back on inventory on the dress racks. Mothers still have to browse catalogs and imagine what they would look like in the dresses they pick out from these catalogs.

AudreysMotheroftheBride.com is now offering customizable or "made-to-measure" special occasion dresses. Whether you are petite or tall, regular or plus size, they are launching their made-to-measure mother of the bride dresses in January 2010.

This is great news for someone who cannot purchase an outfit "off the rack." Also, even if she could, the color or style might not be just right for her or for the wedding. Prices are so reasonable and are very competitive with the prices of the other "ready-to-wear" apparel found on the website.

We need to hear feedback and kudos (or not) from you regarding this. I do appreciate all comments.

My 5 Favorite Mother of the Bride Dresses

As our website AudreysMotheroftheBride.com offers mainly mother of the bride or groom styles, our customers often email us about which styles do we feel are the most flattering. Or which ones are the bestsellers?

We communicate quite a bit with plus size mothers as they are the ones out there who have quite a difficult time finding dresses that are youthful and yet becoming to their figures.

My top five bestsellers or the top five that I feel are the most flattering are in no special order....

Scala 25360 Mother of the Bride Apparel, which is the style in the picture at the TOP LEFT of this blog. The dress is made of silk and has gorgeous iridiscent beads both front and back.

Somehow this blog is limiting--I cannot post other pictures here without it appearing on the top of the page and all huddled together with the others. So please bear with me and click on the links to take you directly to my website for the other 4 topsellers.

Another hot favorite is also by Scala and this is Scala 5207A mother of the bride cocktail dress. Their are other colors as well, but for some reason the antique rose is the fastest mover.

How about this? A season-to-season favorite by Karen Miller. Karen Miller 6540 mother of the bride formal gown. A lot of my customers love the sequinned lace jacket which is of a longer length to hide hips and the full A-line skirt is very kind to hiplines.

This is the not the trendiest style but hey, mothers just love this for the ease of wear and the voluminous skirt. Nite Scene 503 plus size mother of the bride dress. Lots of fancy beads on this one.

Finally, Ursula of Switzerland's style 32509...Ursula mother of the bride gown.

Check these dresses out on our website for more details and prices.

Mother of the Bride Dress Bestsellers

1. The mock two-piece dress with A-line skirt.

This is the most flattering form of the mother of the bride dress. The dress has a bodice which attaches to the skirt, giving the illusion that you are wearing two pieces but you are not. The skirt is a flattering “A” and covers any lumps and bumps and wide hips beautifully.

2. The dress with a jacket – dress can be long or short.

Jackets are not only great for a colder day but it hides unflattering arms that are not quite toned. The sides of the jacket also comouflages wider hips and waistlines and the result is a sleeker look, while making the mother of the bride gown look more formal and dressy. Plus size mothers will benefit from a longer and boxy design to hide hips, while thinner ones will want to try the shorter bolero styles that are more fitted and youthful looking.

3. The cocktail or kneelength dress.

The cocktail dress is great as it is a no fuss look and feel for the garden or informal wedding. No need to worry about dragging the dress and ruining it and lifting the hemline up while you take that walk across the hallway or soiled path. Better yet, the cocktail dress has another life to another great party where a special occasion dress is needed.

4. The “black dress.”

This is a no brainer and no longer a taboo color for a wedding. Which color is so universally appealing and flattering at the same time? It camouflages the parts you do not want others to see, while slenderizing you till whoever looks back at you in the mirror is really you, just better. Black complements everything, be it turquoise jewelry, the orange shoes, or even the tablecloth.

5. The pantsuit with palazzo pants.

Pantsuits are the rave now. Mother of the brides are no longer tied to a pretty and charming dressy dress. Mother of the bride pantsuits are now so allowed at a wedding, as they are allowed at a job. A three-piece ensemble of a jacket, blouse, and loose fitting pants, reflects class, style, and uniqueness at the same time. The mother of the bride can now perform her numerous duties without worrying about how her dress hangs and whether it could possibly drag on the floor, etc.

6. The halter neck gown.

Say no more. The younger mother of the bride with the beautiful shoulders and toned arms can now show them off with a halter neck mother’s gown. Think of Michelle Obama and how she carries off a more revealing style wth both class and dignity. If the neck is not too plunging and the back is not too low, I say why not wear a halter neck gown? No other outfit makes a mother feel young and attractive like wearing this style.

Mother of the Bride Dresses on Clearance

Image: Stacey 78039 Mother of the Bride Dress on Clearance from AudreysMotheroftheBride.com

Hi there,

It looks like it is a slow bridal season this year with the economy being the way it is. Afthr the bride's dress is purchased, alongside the flower arrangements, the wedding favors, hotel and reception, wedding DJ and band, etc., the mother of the bride dress is last on the list of things to plan for. Oftentimes, this goes unplanned and the mother of the bride has to scramble and look for her dress at the last minute.

The bridal stores offer various mother of the bride apparel. However, with spur-of-the-moment shopping and lack of proper planning, prices tend to be exorbitant.

With a limited budget, shopping is really not easy. At our online store, AudreysMotheroftheBride.com we update our "clearance rack" once a week with marked down specials. Prices range from $15 through $135. This beats shopping at the local store. Oftentimes, our clearance items are the current season clothing - we just have to make way for more items. It is just that simple.
